How To Care for Your Air Plant | A Quick and Easy Guide

Caring for your air plant is simple! They are a great starter plant for many who have a hard time caring for most house plants.

Here is a quick guide to get you started:

Once a week, let your air plants soak in a cup or bowl of water. You will want to let your air plants rest in the water for a few hours so they get a good drink!

The type of water you use to feed your air plant is very important. Your air plant may be easy to care for but they are picky! Be sure to feed your air plant rain water or bottled drinking water ONLY. Softened water is high in salts that can possibly burn your poor fragile air plants. Tap water isn't that great either - it has minerals that can clog the trichomes on air plant leaves. This can keep them from absorbing the nutrients your air plants need. So again, rain water or bottled water only for your air plant, please.

Dry the air plants out after they soak in water. Shake off excess water and put them in a bright spot for a couple of hours to dry. This is important because too much moisture can cause rot or mold.

Feed your air plants nutrients once a month by adding water-soluble fertilizer. These specialized fertilizers contain nitrogen in a form that your air plants can readily absorb.
